The Andaman Islands are located in the Bay of Bengal, about 1300 km from the mainland of India. Between India and the southern coast of Indonesia, even though the islands are close to Indonesia for 150 km, it is accessible only through Indian ships and cargo.

Andaman and Nicobar Islands can be reached by air and sea. These are the only two routes to reach the capital of Andaman and Nicobar Islands (Port Blair). How to Reach Andaman By Ship:-

The Andaman Islands can also be reached by sea. Some ships are available to visit the islands. Ships are the oldest way of getting into Andaman from the mainland. The major ports of ships visiting Andaman are Kolkata, Vizag, and Chennai. Shiva of this is not convenient to come to Andaman from any place. These are the government-run ship services that can be availed. Tickets for ships can be booked through the Shipping Directorate/Shipping Corporation of the respective ports. It usually takes 2.5-3 days to reach the Andaman Islands when the weather is clear. The frequency of commuting from Kolkata is usually once or twice a month, in Chennai and Vizag, it is just one sailing per month. If the weather is bad, there can be trouble in sailing, that is why most of the ships are postponed if the weather is bad.

Flight from International in Andaman does not come to fruition yet because the work of International Airport is going on. Very soon flights from international will also start coming. Recently news came that by June or August, we will hand over to the airport authority, after that international flights will also start running. The airport in Andaman is still small, only one flight can be landing at a time, so all the tourists who come to travel in Andaman are requested to reach the airport before 2 hours so that you do not face any problem.

Foreigners Visiting Andaman Islands

Foreign travelers visiting the Andaman Islands must have a valid visa. Can we travel to Andaman by train?

You cannot reach the Andaman Islands by train from anywhere in the world. In the middle is an ocean that has to be crossed by an aircraft or ship. You can take a train to the city station from where you will take your onward flight to Port Blair, there is no train facility for Andaman.

Can we reach Andaman By Bus?

There is no bus service available to the Andaman Islands. You have to cross the Bay of Bengal Sea either by plane or by ship. The best part is that you can take a bus to the nearest bus stand, from where you can reach the airport for your onward flight to Port Blair.
