Cellular Jail
|
The Cellular jail in Port Blair, also known as ‘Kala Pani jail,’ had been built by British for the exiled political prisoners to be kept as Prison. Today the historic structure is converted into a National Memorial Monument. Held daily, a popular attraction of Port Blair is the Light and Sound show here.
Located 175 kilometres away from Chennai, the Cellular Gaol was built in 1906 as a far off located prison where the British would send Indian political prisoners. Now open to the public as a National Memorial and featuring exhibits illustrating the grave torture prisoners experienced. The place is also known as Kala Pani Gaol, which gives visitors a glimpse of the country’s past. There is a Freedom Fighters Photo and Exhibition Gallery in the ground floor and, on the first floor, in the Art gallery and Netaji gallery. The Light and Sound Show on India’s freedom struggle is also famous from this jail. Cellular jail open for all visiter. |

Chidiya Tapu

Chidiya tapu is one of the most popular attractions of Andaman Islands, a bird watcher’s haven and a great sunset viewpoint. Monkeys races each other are there abundant, there are rich forests and verdant mangroves environed and here are parakeet; sea eagles, emerald doves etc shells of various exotic and native species of birds.
Chidiya Tapu, 32km from Port Blair, is a bird watcher’s haven. From its rich variety of native and migratory birds (drongos, scarlet minivet, hanging parrot, long tailed and red breasted parakeets, emerald dove etc.), emerald dove, white bellied sea eagles, grey fronted and green pigeon, it is well known as a place where turbo snorkel, scuba diving and deep sea walking is common. Tourists are major attracted by two places, Chidiya Tapu Biological Park, Chidiya Tapu Beach, respectively, Munda Pahar beaches. Radhanagar Beach

Radhanagar beach is one of most famous beaches of Andaman because of its beautiful white sandy sand and blue water. Located on the south coast of Havelock, it had coconut lined. One could either relax on the silky sand flanking the turquoise blue water or enjoy snorkelling and scuba diving while here. Other than this, there are also many cafes on the beach that serve local to global cuisines. This beach is a must visit for all, as great as it’s sunsets and sunrises are. |

North Bay Beach

One of the most popular attraction of Port Blair is North Bay Beach. It is well known for its underwater treasures of colourful corals, colourful fishes and beautiful plant species. The beach is a fantastic place for snorkelling and scuba diving due to this.
North Bay Island is one of the stunning Island in Port Blair that the locals refer to as Coral Island. Ross Island

Ross Island is also known as Subhash Chandra Bose Island and was a barren island which was until recently, the administrative headquarter of the British. Beautiful as it is a perfect beautiful ocean view and a perfect place to relax and enjoy nature. Many historical ruins are on the island for going sightseeing.
Ross Island is 2 km away from Port Blair and is famous for its scenic beauty as well as for remnants of British era buildings. The administrative headquarters of the British was here, but was shifted to Port Blair as an earthquake took place here in 1941. Tourists could take the tour of the island and see (ruins of) a church, houses, stores, etc. Deer and peacocks could be seen on the island. Other big attractions include the British Chief Commissioner’s Bungalow and the Japanese Bunker. And in the island you could also stop by a bakery where you get snacks and beverages. On Wednesday the island remains closed to visitors. |

Mount Harriet National Park

Port Blair is a National Park in Mount Harriet. It is famous for its collection and its conservation of species from the world of flora and fauna. One can see breath taking view of Port Blair and nearby Havelock Island from the mountain peak.
Mount Harriet National Park is the place where they had managed to experience nature at its ultimate form, because of its wide range of Flora and fauna. Named after the wife of a British army officer Robert Christopher Tyler, a nature lover and photographer, it was. The park is surrounded by evergreen forests with many mountains and sandy and rocky beaches with only a little sand on them. Streams from the hills make it even more ethereal.
